2012 Fiddle Festival & Contest

On Saturday June 16th, the California State Old Time Fiddlers Association District 8 hosted its Third Annual Fiddle Festival at Camarillo’s Constitution Park, this time with the addition of a fiddling contest. The competition was stiff as 38 contestants competed in 6 divisions for medals and cash prizes. From the youngest in the Pee Wee division to the veterans in the Senior division, competitors brought their best to the stage in hopes of capturing a win. Festival attendees were also treated to an afternoon of marvelous entertainment by some of the best musicians and bands in Ventura County. Somis Highway, Mariachi Camarillo, The Restless Hillfillies, Silverstrand Bluegrass, Phil Salazar & Lauren Donahue, and the District 8 Old Time Fiddlers Band all gave performances that had the crowd tapping their toes to the music that is our country’s heritage. Fiddle music lovers got what they came for, rousing fiddle tunes, plenty of great food, shopping at the many vendor booths, and good company. Lastly, a shout of appreciation to the event organizers Wayne & Cathy Agnew and to all volunteers who gave freely of their time and energy to help make the festival a success, Rory & Michel Franco and many others too numerous too list – thank you all!!
