If you missed last week’s gathering, you sure missed out on a great time. Please allow me to recap for you.
First and foremost, Ron Sexton generously donated his time and conducted our first ever Musician’s Workshop. There were twenty seats filled. Ron shared everything from stage etiquette tips to Nashville stories to instrument technique. There were many questions and Ron was able to answer every one of them. If you missed this workshop, please be on the lookout for our next one somewhere around the beginning of 2013.
Did we have musicians?!! It was like a family reunion. In addition to the usual cast of musicians, we saw several members who have been MIA. We were so glad to see everyone together again. A special welcome back to Skip Klassen who has been absent while tending to family matters. We really missed you.
We were also visited by 2 young musicians who impressed everyone with their wonderful performance. It is always nice to have new people visit us for inspiration and experience. And there was lots of experience this week. The stage was full and sessions had to be limited to two songs just so that everyone had an opportunity to play. Everyone cooperated and there was much joshing as usual.
And did I mention the audience and the refreshment table? We had a full house and a table filled with goodies. We even had a delicious hot soup.
Remember that our next gathering will be for our Christmas Dinner party, Sunday, December 9 starting at 1:30 PM. Contact Polly Gehr right away if you don’t have reservations. Don’t get left out. Please bring your instrument. I want to jam!!! See you soon.

2012 Fiddlers Christmas Dinner
What better way to start the holidays with than with good friends, good food, and fabulous music. 100 members and guests attended this years Christmas dinner and were treated to a delicious traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Marlene Nord, Ray Magee, Gordon Roberts, Steve Linsky and Ron Sexton provided wonderful Christmas music before dinner.
Outgoing President Joe Hunsinger spoke before dinner, updating the members on the current status of the organization, then announced the new Board of Directors for 2013. After the dinner was consumed, everyone was treated to the great music the Fiddlers are known for. Leon Copass and the Panhandlers closed out the session with several of the toe-tapping tunes they’re known for. The afternoon ended all too soon, but there’s always more on the horizon. We’ll resume our regular jam sessions on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
